Wayanad is located in Kerala, more specifically at North Kerala. As it is a hill station where you witness heavy rains, June to July is not a good season to visit Wayanad. However, during many days in June and July it does not rain heavily. Wayanad is accessible from Mysore and it is only a few hours from Mysore. Mysore never witness heavy rain (except a few days it never rain continuously). When you visit Mysore you can enquire if there is heavy rain in Wayanad and if not so, you can consider visiting for a couple of days.
However, some of the Tourist spots may be closed for Tourists during heavy rainy season

By the end of August it is the better time to visit Wayanad. Still you may get rains in Wayanad during August. So you have to verify the weather report.

It is always recommended to stay closer to the Tourist spots you want to visit. Wayanad is the district name and it is a vast area. Not all tourist spots are located very close by. Hence, either you have to book a car (not really recommended) or you have to stay closer to the tourist spots you want to visit

Ghibli Museum with host family, pics and engraved Howl’s Moving Castle ring

Posted on June 28th, 2010 by admin

It was beautiful. Styled like the buildings in his movies, and lots of plants and water pumps and old fashioned steam-punk things around… Just gorgeous. I wasn’t really allowed to take pictures inside, but I did take a lot outside and I get some video footage of inside at certain places. We all walked around and I was having a fit over just how beautiful everything was.

Then we went to the showing of Hoshi wo Katta Hi (”The Day I Harvested a Planet”), one of Miyazaki’s short films. From the posters I saw outside the theater, I noticed that the main character looked a lot like Howl when he was a young boy, so I was immediately attracted to this movie. But then it started, and it was so good and the soundtrack was so amazingly beautiful that I just fell in love.

As I walked around the gift shop, I was sad that there wasn’t really much Howl’s Moving Castle stuff (it’s my favorite book and the movie adaptation is also a favorite). I got to the section where they had like silverware and glass things… I saw a silver ring with red jewels and I just froze. Engraved on the inside was “Howl & Sophie”. My heart melted instantly and I asked to have a look at it to see if it would fit (since most of the time, rings are way too big for me), and it fit perfectly. I stood there for five minutes staring at the ring, then my host dad came over to ask what was up. I told him that I wanted the ring so bad, and that it was about $127. He talked to the cashier and told me that this was the only store you could get the ring at.

And as I looked at the names in the ring once more, I said, “I’ll buy it.”

After going to the register and getting everything wrapped up, we found out that I had just bought the last ring and they were now sold out. *___*
