Cost of living in Montreal and where to stay.?

Posted on April 10th, 2010 by admin

I have got an summer intern in Sherbrooke University and I am getting 1000 CAD per month for my personal expenses out of which I will have to pay 285 dollars for hostel accommodation (every month) .
Firstly would the remaining be enough for a month , considering that my classroom would be at walking distance from my hostel (so not much travel expenses). Secondly is living in a hostel ( at 285 $ per month ) a better option or living in a homestay etc ?
kindly provide me a general idea about how much an average guy spends there in a month.

I agree that 285 $ per month can’t be beaten. The remaining 715 $ for your other expenses is frugal but playable: It would mean 23 $ a day. If you can’t get food at the hostel, you can count on 5 $ breakfasts, 6 $ lunches and 8 $ dinners to leave you 28 $ for a weekly night out.
