Any farms/cattle ranches that have homestay programs in Australia?

You might like to have a look at this website …a few interesting options. You could combine a farm homestay with a tour of the far north & trip out on the Great Barrier Reef.

Any exchange programs to japan that offer homestay and enrollment in senior high school (and available to UK)?

Posted on November 15th, 2011 by admin

I am 15 and reside in the UK. I dream of travelling to and studying in Japan when I leave secondary school in June 2012 (by which time I will be 16). I have been looking for a program for months but most are based in America and not available to UK students. People also seem to think that I want to go to Japan for a year, I actually want to continue my education in Japan but don’t know whether its possible.
In short, are there any programs that will let me attend a senior high school in Japan and homestay, which is available to UK students? If so, please post links or company names, or email me at willem.cyberwars.butler@gmail.com . If you are going to tell me to wait until I am 18, don’t bother posting a comment. I have made up my mind, and all the negative comments in the world will not change that…

So, you speak fluent Japanese, then?

No, you can’t effectively continue your education in a country where you don’t speak the language.

Forget the daydreams. Go take language classes. No, not watching anime.

Safe homestay in England?

Posted on October 8th, 2011 by admin

I’m 15 years old (16 y/o in 3 months). I’m planning on traveling to England alone next summer (2012). I can’t find any exchange programs in England, so I’m thinking maybe finding a safe family I could live with for a month would be okay? What are some safe homestay programs for students?

Sorry, but we don’t really do that sort of thing over here, the same goes for ’summer camps’. Perhaps you should wait until you go to University and take a course that lets you study over here for a year or so?

How do I apply for a homestay/host family program in Korea?

Posted on July 4th, 2011 by admin

I’m from M’sia and would like to stay with a host family in Seoul, Korea for over a week or so. I’m also still not so sure about the process of hosts programs… which is the best website i could go to look for infos?

ASA is a wonderful program. I’m not sure if they have any programs available in Seoul but it’s worth a try! You can just google exchange programs and a bunch will come up. Most of them aren’t scams but you still have to be careful.

Any way to house with family in Japan to work for multiple years?

Posted on May 8th, 2011 by admin

I’ve seen about homestay programs, but I’m wondering if maybe there is a way I can stay with a family and just work for the family doing whatever employment? Or finding outside employment and paying rent to the family? Also, if I stay with a family, can I be hired by a Japanese company and then acquire citizenship for working there?

No. Sorry. You need a four year degree to qualify for a work visa. That means a BA / BS degree. This is the requirement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The only jobs available are those that a Japanese can’t or won’t do. Most work visas start at one year. The employer must sponsor the employee. If a Japanese can do the job, they will always be hired first.
You have to live in Japan for no less than five years before you can apply for citizenship.

Foreign exchange in Spain–NOT a homestay?

Posted on December 7th, 2010 by admin

Hey, everyone. I’ve been pondering doing foreign exchange for a while yet, but I’m running into a problem. My mom doesn’t want me to do a homestay program. She’s had students who have gone to foreign exchange programs and gotten sexually abused by their homestay families, so she’s against me doing homestay.

There are programs that I’ve seen in other countries where you go with a group from your country (and counselors) and stay in an apartment building together, but is there anything like that in Spain?

Thanks!

Your mother is a VERY wise woman. Another thing to watch out for is the people in the host country take new students out to march in anti-American parades and use them as pawns.

My hat is off to your mother and I hope you appreciate her and what she is trying to do for you.

And yes, exchange students are OFTEN sexually abused. I know from personal experience.

I am wondering, If i want to study in Korea, for the homestay program is it okay for muslims to be part of it?

Posted on November 21st, 2010 by admin

Yes please can you give me the answer especially as a Muslim Female, I am very curious.I have Canadian passport but I live in U.A.E..if that gives more information..so can you guys give me an answer :D

Absolutely. I’m sorry if you ever got the impression that Koreans only accept white people into the country or anything, but there is no discrimination against student’s ethnicities in Korea. I mean, yes, korea does have problems with some illegal South Asian immigration, so it might be a bit harsher on the immigration side, but since you’re just coming over to study as a student there is no problem.

If what you are worried about the religion part of it, you shouldn’t need to worry about that either. Korea’s not intense like America about muslims and although most of Korea is Christian, there are also several renowned muslim temples throughout the area if you look for it. No, people will not care what religion you are. I mean, people of foreign ethnicities aren’t that prevalent in Korea so they may be a little curious about you when you are there, but trust me, it’s nothing hostile. Most Koreans are enthusiastic about foreign students coming over to study in Korea and they react the same way to eveyone no matter what your ethnicity is, if that’s what you’re concerned about.

As for a homestay program, they arent that common in Korea as they are in the US or Canada. Just the concept of "homestay" itself is not that common in Korea (yes, korean students do it a lot when they go over to other countries, but koreans living in korea don’t tend to host often). If you have already found a homestay program in korea, then great! ;] If you haven’t, just keep that in mind that it may be a little difficult.
Hope I helped!

What is the best country to study abroad?

Posted on November 9th, 2010 by admin

in the northern hemisphere. It’d be in the December/ January of 2011/12 for about a month and a bit.

I live in australia and want a great experience which will also help me education wise. When I go I’d be 16, almost 17. I’m thinking possibly America, or Canada? I do also speak mandarin, but I’m not too keen on staying in china, for obvious reasons.

So what are good countries in general that have good exchange/ homestay programs?

You can visit http://www.linktodiversity.com where you will find a number of programs in different parts of the world, it should help you to get an idea what interests you the most. Hope it helps!

Homestay Program Ukraine to NYC?

Posted on November 6th, 2010 by admin

I have a Ukrainian friend who wants to do a work aborad/ tourism program in New York, preferably a homestay. Does anyone know any art institutions that would sponsor such a trip? Or does anyone know of any home-stay programs in the city for foreigners?

Look for Sara Homestay. I used them for an internship on Staten Island (I’m from the Bronx and commuting to SI to get to the shipyard I was working at by 7:30am was gonna be way too much).

It looks like they have lots of families in Manhattan as well willing to host people. I listed their website below. And there’s a "Contact Us" on the bottom of that website.

Remember, you’re still the one responsible for making sure you have the proper visas to enter the US.
