Hi, I’m gonna be there for 8 weeks studying, staying with a Homestay family, so accommodation and food is already covered.
I just need money for transportation and turists stuff… I´m not going there to spend my money shopping, I just wanna know the city and have fun…
Do u think that I’ll survive with a 2000 dlls budget? or do I need more money?
THANX!!!
Oh and I’m 25 years old, I like partying and I don’t drink alcohol,
2000dlls? is that $2000 Canadian?
$2000 Canadian would be enough if you dont plan on shopping. Taking the bus and the skytrain will usually cost you about $5-$10 per day… depending on where you go. If you plan on seeing a hockey game, that will cost you about $70-$100. If you go out to the bars at night it will usually cost you anywhere from $10-$20 cover charge.
You best bet would be to look online under vancouver attractions and find the things you want to do and estimate how much it will cost you.
Our tax is only 13% ..not 20

$2000 should be plenty for 8 weeks. You can buy monthly transit passes for about $100 a month, then you can take the buses and skytrain anywhere (depending on how many zones your pass allows you to travel in): http://www.translink.bc.ca
Admission to typical tourist spots can range from about $10 up to an average of about $25-$30. The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a must (http://www.capbridge.com), and Grouse Mountain is worth checking out as well. Stanley Park is beautiful, and best of all, it’s free. If you get the opportunity, driving up to Whistler is definately recommended as well (though it may not be doable without your own car).
