Recently in April we had been to coorg and stayed in a excellent bunglow near Raja’s seat all the way from Mumbai and we have fallen in love. In coorge there are plently of homestays available infact I saw a directory of homestays in one of the restaurants. . We went from Bangalore to Mysore and then proceeded to Coorg. But you can avoid Mysore. From Srirangapatnam there is a bypass newly open to Hunsur. We visited Dubare Wild Elephant Trainning camp and Tibetian Settelemts, monastries on the way. Both the places you must visit. The Road conditions are excellent and it’s a pleasent countryside drive. From Bangalore it should take 5-6 hours. There was an article in Outlook Traveller recently on the Route from Bangalore to Coorg.
Just give me some time when I go home I will try to find more details.
