What can you tell me about Hato Rey, PR?

I am thinking of doing a study abroad program. The school is in Hato Rey and the homestays are withing walking distance. I would like to know the type of area and if it is safe.

Its not necessarily the safest place on earth. Make sure you keep a low profile.
