See inside and around this Palakkad Homestay.
Tucked away on the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, about 50 kilometers from Coimbatore, lies the gateway to Kerala- Palakkad. Just about an hours drive from the town of Palakkad lies a Homestay cocooned in the lap of nature – Planters Retreat.
Your hosts are a family of Dr. Mathew and his wife Mrs. Mathew, their son, daughter-in-law and grandson. Their ancestors who had traditionally been farmers for several generations settled near this hamlet of Kanzhirapuzha in the 1940s. Dr. and Mrs. Mathew threw open the doors of their cosy bungalow set amidst their 100 acre rubber plantation to the discerning traveler recently. They both love to have visitors come over here to experience their culture and traditions as well as have a taste of authentic Syrian Christian cuisine.
Planters Retreat is part of a 220 acre farm that grows rubber, cocoa, coconut, nutmeg, mango, black pepper and teak. Dr. Mathew, who is at the helm of this plantation, has been following green practices here for over a decade. In fact, his plantation happens to be a fully certified organic farm.
